MAIN CONCEPTS IN THE EARLY CHILDHOOD
LEVEL INCLUDE:
• Learning to live together within a peer-group
• Language acquisition and construction
• First steps in the written language
• Learning to act in the world, discovering the world
• To imagine, feel and create
Within the Early Childhood level, ELC, Nursery and Pre-Kindergarten a stronger focus is placed on Armenian-based activities than English. At the Kindergarten level, three periods are taught in Armenian while main activities are taught in English to help students transition successfully to first grade.
The basics (colors, shapes, letters and numbers) are interwoven into art, poetry, music and other daily activities. Activities target children's motor creativity, development and understanding of language. To further encourage such development, students learn nursery rhymes, finger plays, poems and enjoy story time. |

In ELC, Nursery and Pre-K, activities focus on the development of children's creativity, motor development, and understanding of their languages. In order to further expand the children's concepts and understanding of language, nursery rhymes, finger plays and a variety of poems are added to the curriculum. Story time is incorporated both in classroom and library.
At the Kindergarten level, math, science and social studies are taught through thematic units. Hands-on manipulatives and learning centers are used throughout all disciplines. |
